OUR STORY

Four people standing outdoors in a wooded area, smiling at the camera. Two men with plaid shirts, a woman in a light blue top, and a man in a dark shirt and white cap.

Serving Newberry Since 1945

By 1970, the family was advertising lawn mowers and chain saws with a simple promise: “We service what we sell.” A lot has changed since then, but that philosophy hasn’t.

Today, Tommy “Tony” Hedgepath Jr. carries on the business established by his grandfather, H.L. Hedgepath, and continued by his father, Tommy Sr.—still serving the community his family has called home for generations.

And one piece of history we especially love? A 1970 Hedgepath advertisement listed the shop’s phone number as 276-2148. More than 50 years later, you can still reach us at (803) 276-2148.

The equipment has changed. The business has grown. But we still take care of our customers, stand behind what we sell and treat people like neighbors—because most of them are.

For more than 80 years, the Hedgepath name has been part of doing business in Newberry. What began in 1945 as H.L. Hedgepath & Son has grown through three generations from a small sales and repair shop into Hedgepath Outdoor Power Equipment.

More Than a Name. It’s HOPE.

Hedgepath Sr., referred to as Big T, in a modern photo. The third is Tommy L. 'Tony' Hedgepath Jr., carrying the legacy, also in a modern photo, standing in front of a Hedgepath outdoor power equipment store.

After the passing of his father, Tony Hedgepath stepped into a new chapter of the family business and gave it a name that reflected what would continue to guide it forward: Hedgepath Outdoor Power Equipment — HOPE.

For Tony, HOPE has never meant simply hoping things work out. It means hope through faith — the belief that when life, work and service to others are rooted in Christ, you can trust the path ahead.

Faith in Christ. Hope for the future. A family legacy carried forward.

OUR VALUES

For more than 80 years, Hedgepath has done business a little differently. Faith, family and taking care of our neighbors have carried us through three generations—and they’re still at the heart of everything we do.

FAITH

Our faith guides the way we live, work and serve others. HOPE means more to us than Hedgepath Outdoor Power Equipment—it’s a reminder to put our trust in Christ and do business with honesty, integrity and purpose.

SERVICE

Around here, the sale isn’t the end of the relationship. We know the equipment we sell, we stock the parts to keep it running, and we have people right here who can service it when you need us. “We service what we sell” was our promise in 1970—and it still fits today.
